Let's get Canadian and Dutch fundraisers talking.

Dutch and Canadian fundraisers have a lot to learn from each other's practices. Terminology (not just language!) is a hindrance that GiveGoed works with fundraisers to bridge: a shared term can hide a different rule, system, or assumption underneath it. GiveGoed opens the conversation carefully, so the exchange that follows is actually useful.

The approachDe aanpak

Three gaps, one bridgeDrie kloven, één brug

LanguageTaal

English and Dutch, side by side - not as an afterthought, but as the starting point for how a term gets defined.

Countries & platformsLanden & platforms

A term like "constituent" means something different depending on which CRM taught it to you, and which country's rules shaped it. Comparing Canada, the Netherlands, and the UK sharpens a definition, rather than diluting it.

Business & technicalBusiness & techniek

A fundraiser knows the problem. A CRM Admin knows the fields. GiveGoed translates between the two, so the conversation with your technical team starts further along.

Where the shapes differWaar de vormen verschillen

Canadian giving is highly concentrated at the top, driven by a relatively small number of large individual and corporate gifts. Imagine Canada research shows donors giving $5,000 or more (about 9% of donors) account for roughly seven in ten donated dollars. Dutch giving rests on a broader base: Geven in Nederland reports that 41% of Dutch households give through some form of committed, recurring donorship. The two sources aren't built the same way (Canadian tax-filer records vs. Dutch household survey data), so this isn't a precise comparison. The shapes below are illustrative only.

Canadian fundraisers generally default to "donor" or "constituent," largely an artefact of the dominant fundraising platforms' naming conventions. Ask someone in the UK, and they'll say "supporter." Neither is wrong, and comparing them is exactly how GiveGoed builds sharper, shared definitions for the teams it works with.

Margaret Evans

GiveGoed is led by Margaret Evans, who brings 17 years in nonprofit CRM, data governance, and recurring giving strategy. She spent 13 years at SickKids Foundation in Toronto, the last seven as Associate Director of Business Applications & Data Management, before relocating to the Netherlands.

That move surfaced a blind spot in her own expertise: years of deep Canadian fundraising knowledge that had quietly mistaken one country's version of the practice for the whole picture. GiveGoed exists to help nonprofit teams build the shared data literacy and governance practices that make real collaboration possible, across departments and across borders, so Canadian organizations can build broader, more stable giving portfolios and Dutch organizations can build resilience alongside their broad base through stronger major giving.
